About Philosophical Marginalia
I analyse fiction through the lens of philosophy.
I started Philosophical Marginalia because sometimes I have too many thoughts about the books I read. I’m a PhD student in philosophy and my brain won’t stop thinking about it. Maybe I think too much into these stories, and find philosophy the author never intended, but I needed a space to explore these ideas. I write about what I think about when I’m reading. Hopefully you enjoy these thoughts.
This isn’t a space for self-help or tidy conclusions. It’s for wondering. For turning ideas over until they shimmer.
If you stay for a while, you’ll find:
Essays that read fiction as philosophy.
Notes and fragments about reading, writing, and consciousness.
Occasional meta essays — reflections on how philosophy lives in everyday thought.
Thank you for reading, and for thinking with me.
Why subscribe?
The main essays are free to read. Paid subscribers get access to the deeper, more personal writing — the “meta” reflections and behind-the-scenes marginalia — as well as The Philosophical Marginalia Reading List, a short guide to the books that changed how I think about being human.
